Energy Related Product (ErP) Directive
Environmentally friendly design Requirements for Directional Lamps, LED Lamps and Related Equipment (EU Directive 1194/2012) In order for end users to have confidence in choosing environmentally friendly lighting products for both commercial and domestic applications the European Union has brought in the ERP Directive. It requires products meet safety, efficiency & performance requirements. This directive came in on 1st September 2013 leading to a new standard for LED lamps sold in the EU to have minimum efficiency requirements. ERP is now a requirement of CE marking for environmentally friendly lighting. The ERP directive also brings in requirements for how LED lighting is sold and promoted from literature, website content, brochures, advertising, labelling, containers & packaging.
